On foot over the Alps

This dream of a route is the very embodiment of the famous quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Here we describe the “Pfunders” section. The “Pfunders-Kreuzwiesen Alp” section begins in the village of Pfunders. The trail initially descends gently between the road and the forestry trail (approx. 400 metres’ difference in altitude) into the Puster Valley down to Niedervintl. After crossing the Rienz, the path takes you on a really strenuous climb through forests and alpine meadows to Lüsner Alp (approx. 1200 metres of climbing). There you will find the Roner refuge hut (1832 metres) and four more large huts along the alp. The crowning glory is an impressive panoramic view of the Dolomites. The Wieserhof farmhouse tavern looks forward to your visit.
